HostFog Panel 1.0.0 for Linux
=============================

Your own local web server: Apache or Nginx, PHP, MariaDB (MySQL),
Node.js, Redis, PostgreSQL (with PostgreSQL Manager) and phpMyAdmin, with a HostFog control panel.

INSTALL
-------
Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pop!_OS and similar:
    sudo apt install ./hostfog-panel_1.0.0_amd64.deb
(use the _arm64.deb on ARM computers such as a Raspberry Pi 4/5)

Any other Linux (no administrator rights needed):
    tar xzf hostfog-panel-1.0.0-linux-amd64.tar.gz
    cd hostfog-panel-1.0.0-linux-amd64
    ./install.sh

Then open "HostFog Panel" from your apps menu, or run hostfog-panel.

FIRST START
-----------
1. Components > "Install everything missing". On Debian, Ubuntu and Fedora
the panel installs Apache, PHP and MariaDB from your system's packages
and asks for your password once. It then switches off the system's own
Apache and MariaDB services, because HostFog Panel runs its own copies.
On other distributions, install Apache, PHP (with its Apache module) and
MariaDB with your package manager; the panel finds them by itself.
2. Control panel > "Start all", then "Open site".

GOOD TO KNOW
------------
- Apache uses port 8080 (http://localhost:8080), because Linux only lets
administrators use ports below 1024. Change it in Settings.
- Your websites, databases, logs and settings are in ~/HostFog.
  Put websites in ~/HostFog/htdocs.
- The panel opens in a browser window. Closing it doesn't stop your
servers: open HostFog Panel again to get it back, or click
"Quit HostFog Panel" to stop everything.
- install.sh (or, with the .deb, the first start of HostFog Panel) trusts
HostFog's own HTTPS certificate, so https://….test sites open without a
warning. Your system asks for your password once.

UNINSTALL
---------
In HostFog Panel open Settings > Uninstall HostFog Panel. It's a full
clean: every server, setting and log in ~/HostFog, the trusted HTTPS
certificate, the .test lines in /etc/hosts, open at sign-in and the
program itself. You choose whether to keep your websites and databases.
From a terminal:
hostfog uninstall (then: sudo apt remove hostfog-panel)
./install.sh --uninstall (if you used the .tar.gz)
Add --keep-sites to keep your websites and databases.
